    Default Multi-Page Join Form

    MultiPage Join Form

The join form is split across multiple pages, with different "topics" on each page.

Perhaps people will want the first page to be required (with basic information like NickName, Headline, Sex, etc) - and then the user's email will be confirmed....

When the email has been confirmed - when they return to the site - they will be required (or not) to complete the rest of the join form to answer the other questions.

There are two ways to do this mod...

Static - the pages are programmed into php. However, this if the admin wants to make changes, they are not easily done. This will require less coding.

Dynamic - the pages are built from the ProfilesDesc table, and this will allow the admin to change the pages, perhaps, from a admin panel screen.
This will require much more coding

Comments or suggestions about this proposed mod are appreciated.

    Hi,

We have a new coder here on MOD, his name is David. He has been working on this mod - the multipart join form - but he needs to clean it up a bit - and then we need to do some testing.

So, the basic code is ready.... I need to talk to him about how much time he has into it - and then we can come up with the development cost - and go from there.

It would be helpful to see some people sponsor this - as it would then help this mod move up on the list of things to do. (We are pretty busy now).

    Thanks,

    Smoge

    Default I'm In...

Please let me know the details. I've just recently purchased the program and this is the first shortfall I noticed in it. I'll work with either solution you are proposing, static or dynamic. Would prefer the dynamic for obvious reasons but I can work with php/mySQL too. Since the work has been done, there's no need for me to spend my time repeating it! Just let me know what you need from me!

    Default Multi-Part Join Form

From what I read it seems people want a couple different versions of this.

Version 1: Where people have to fill out a minimum of information, and submit this to create their account. Then they can come back later and fill out the rest of the information they want.

Version 2: Where there are pages seperating the join information into 3 pages so that they don't get overwhelmed with all the information being displayed at one time.

Version 1 would require almost all the profile fields set to optional except for the minimum required fields. I could do it this way, but then you get way too many accounts created that no one ever completes.

Version 2 is what I have right now, so that there are 3 pages. Page 1 is Basic Information, Page 2 is Match and Seeking Information, Page 3 is the Extra Contact Information and such. This doesn't overwhelm the new members and gives you a complete registration in the database.

Making a static page seems self defeating as the admin page is designed so that when you add or remove a field you dont have to edit any code.

So Version 2 will be available relatively soon, I just need to clean it up, basic testing has been completed; a little more cannot hurt; and put it up for release. Not sure how long it's taken, but Smoge sets pricing.

Version 1 wouldnt be a major problem and can be done if enough people prefer this version.

Let me know what you guys think and I'll let you know when it's done, tested and ready to go. Shouldn't be more then a day or two.

    Thanks, David

    Default My vote...

David, its too bad the two can't be optionally combined! If I were to choose I would prefer the second option. In your 2nd version, is it strictly limited to 3 pages? Would newly created questions be automatically added to the 3rd page?

    Thanks

    Hi ,
what i would be interested in (and i think would be quite powerfull) , is that using a bit of php coding , or setting a config file ,
user can set the number of pages
and on which fields to divide the pages , or which fields should belong to each page.

is this going to be ready soon ? is it much more complicated than what's aready been done?

    Thanks,
    yaniv

Default Where are you with this?

    Hi David,

Have you made any progress with this mod? I'm actually waiting for it... or detailed info about what you have, ie, options, cost, etc. I'd be glad to help if we can move ahead on it.

    Thanks!

Same here, I'm also interested in it. Is it, or will it be made available anytime soon?
