    Default another way sqlyog

Use a tool like sqlyog which is a mysql client and will compare the database structure for you.
You can update any table changes there are there and than . ie database sync or table sync

Think of Ultracompare for a mysql database.

After your tables are current you transfer across the new files.

WARNING: Try this out on your localhost first before you do it on a live server.

Tried it out on localhost it was a breeze.

Yes - sqlyog is great - but perhaps beyond the ability of the common administrator to use.

Attached to this post is the standard dolphin 5.3 upgrade script - perhaps this could be checked and modified if needed to allow for the average joe to do an upgrade (or at least try).

The whole BoonEx supplied upgrade zip is here.

I think you already did this (saw in another post, you did it manually) - but I wanted to mention that we will have an upgrade script available for this - any version (stock) of aedating / dolphin to any later version of aedating / dolphin / gpldate.

We have had this script for a long time now - and yes - you can upgrade from any earlier version of aedating / dolphin to any later version of aedating / dolphin.

Hah - in some ways, 4.1.4 is better than Dolphin - is is easier to code in and do templates, for example.

Speed - both scripts can benefit from optimization - I don't know if there is a huge difference. Security - 4.1.4 is generally OK - have you had any problems in this area?

Dolphin has new features - like groups and so on ... I would assume this would be the reason you would want to upgrade.

    What we would do is

    a) setup a subversion repository
    b) load the ORIGINAL code base you are using (from the zip file released by BoonEx)
    c) load in your site code

Then - we can easily see what files are changed, and what the changes were all in one view.

Subversion is a great tool - we use it for as much as we can - and recommend it whole-heartily to everyone. I can't think of a single down-side to it.

    Warm regards,

    Hi,

thx for your quick answer Rob.
I took a look at dolphin websites and i like the structures of the script, I mean its more a community script and im turning my AE dating script into community rather than a real dating site.

I dont know if i will upgrade in a soon future but i think i will when it will be the end (maybe) of the dating sites.

I just realized that AE dating script is not that friendly to use. E.G. the cc.php page which quite franckly is messy. I just split this page into 5 pages and deleted the hot list feature. Maybe with the time ill get a friendly community script without the need to upgrade to dolphin. Maybe...

Anyways thanks for your support and all your advices.

    Florent
