Default Upgrading checklist / step by step guide?

I'm hunting around for step-by-step instructions on how to upgrade (from 3.3 to 4.1). I've read aeWebworks upgrade docs can kill your site, so any help appreciated on where all the comprehensive guides are, so I can hopefully pull off the upgrade without any glitches.

This thread will take your database from an older release to v4.0 patch 1.

Upgrade Database from older versions to v4

Then, you can apply the v4.0 patch 1 to v4.02 patch 2 upgrades (info on aeDatings Private Support forum)

Then, you can do the v4.0 patch 2 to v4.1 (IQ) upgrade, using their script.

I'll try to get the above thread updated at some point so it is more concise.

If you try this - do it on a COPY of your database - not the original - and do backups too!

I just thought of a shortcut. My site is a failure with 30 users who never login! It's in my best interests just to reinstall from scratch and email those users to sign up again who wish to do so. I guess now I'm going to have to wait to see what happens with the free version of aedating.

I don't suppose there's a way to dump and then import a list of users into a later version of aedating?

    Hi,

I don't like the upgrade scripts aeDating provides - I think (and have seen) that they introduce errors into the database. If you only have 30 users who are inactive - then yes - I think a fresh install is much better.

Those with lots of uses, and active ones, of course, have to go the upgrade route.
