Thread: ipfw firewall

Hi
Any body has a ipfw firewall rule set which I can use.
Runing my site on a freebsd 5.3 OS with apache.
Been trying the ipfw rule inclusive rule set from the freebsd and book with modifications and keep getting locked out.

One of our coders, Wally, has a lot of experience with both FreeBSD and Solaris.

If you want some help - he may be able to provide it.

At our main office, he uses a FreeBSD machine as a gateway, and if I am not mistaken, he uses ipfw.

I have uploaded the inclusive firewall ruleset.
when i use it i can only use webmin. other wise all other services are locked out even ssh though i have specifically allowed it in the rule set.
Also the website can be access but any querries involving a database connection get locked out or are very very very slow.
I am uploading the file for your collegeaue to see and would be delighted if he could help.
I am made it as less secure as possible to get it to work but still have problems

I talked to Wally, and yes, he uses the same as you.

He is willing to help on this - but he is busy with some other projects.

Are you looking for free help? Or are you willing to pay something for his time?

Thank you for your reply.
I am in no real hurry. He can take his time. This is more of a hobby which I do in my spare time.
As regards paying for knowledge I donot mind.
But depends on how much he is going to charge .
You probably could charge me from something else in future like a mod i buy from you etc.
