    Default Ray Media Server

Can someone tell me - what exactly is (in laymen terms lol) Ray Media Server?

It says you need to install this for ray 2.3, but gives no instructions to do so. I am trying to get 2.3 up on my test area, and I am stumpe at this Ray Media Server. It is probably a simple task, but server stuff is like Greek to me.

    Ringo,

Ray Media Server is a version of Red5, which in turn is a Open Source Flash Media Server. This is what will take place of the FMS to broadcast your audio and video in chat.

It's young yet, but has potential. The biggest potential is that it's open source, ie: free.

I am slowly working through issues on my site. I have Ray working. Though the admin I get a connection error. I have Orca up to a point. I am getting this error: Sorry, site is unavailable now, please try again later
when trying to access Orca. I don't plan on keeping it. But I plan on making it work!

One thing that is needed for RMS, is Java 1.5. Finally did the smart thing and asked my hosting company for help. Hah, was easy. Install Tomcat through WHM, it installs Java 1.5. I just have this need to do it all alone, and not ask, so it takes me forever! I think it's the whole asking for directions when lost thing..

Anyway. If I get there, I will share what It took.

i had ray2.2 installed by boonex....to get around the jre problem....they just installed it one level up from my public_html directory....did the same thing for the rms....one directory up....the connection error comes from the server being down.....or not having one of the paths correct.....if you cd to the directory of red5 and type ./run_daemon.sh it's supposed to restart....i found that doesn't always work and you can sometimes restart with ./ray.sh ........if you have any other questions i'l try to help.....after having boonex install for me i realized the only thing i did wrong was with the path to java.......and to end on a positive note....if you have rms installed from version 2.1 or 2.2......you don't have to do anything to it.....it works with 2.3 as well......George
