Thread: Contemplating CamFrog......

I've been looking all over the web for SOME Video Chat application that has all the features we need in it for our site, and so far, CamFrog seems to be by far the leader in that category. Drawbacks are that it only runs on a Winblows Server Box (2000 or 2003) AND your users are limited to Win 2000/WinXP to run the thing (A HUGE drawback), I haven't found anything else that has the features I need. Does anyone know of a chat app that has the old-style Press to Talk button, undockable and resizeable video windows, etc... THose features are an absolute MUST for us. Unfortunately, most Flash chat apps have to keep a video window inside of the main chat window, which really limits some people. Anyone have any ideas, or know of mods to existing chat apps which feature these items? I'm about tired of looking for something that gets "close" but no cigar. Can UserPlane be modded this way?

I suggest you come up with a complete listing - complete specs - and go from there.

As for Userplane doing all of this - we have some pretty close ties with them - maybe something could be worked out (but also maybe not!) but I know they want to stay on top of the field - so there is a chance.

Or some other application may fit the bill.

Do you know any sites that have an application that currently meets your desired specifications?

Meetcam is running Camfrog pretty much just as it comes out of the box.

FINALLY. We've been in contact with them, and it's amazing what a request for a refund will get you as far as attention. They have actually about ironed out the problems we had with the modifications they made for us, and all seems to be working relatively smoothly now. I am awaiting word from them about integrating with Dolphin, as they guarantee they can integrate with any user database. We'll see. If not, of course I will have MMS do it for us, but hopefully that won't become necessary. Once we have accomplished the integration successfully, I'd like to see what everyone thinks of it. Should be ready in a few days, unless of course we end up having to have MMS integrate it for us, which means that Flashcoms couldn't.

Flashcoms managed to get their software integrated with the Dolphin database with no issues. It's working like it was meant to finally. We are making a lot of mods to the chat to get it like we want it, but as of now, it's fully functional with membership levels integrated, so we are very pleased with the result.
