Thread: Damned Stupid F*****G Ray

Sorry but If you sold something that 75% of users could not use you think you might try to create a way that buyers can setup the whole system in one simple step, not be too much of an ask. Not installing Dolphin then Ray, then whatever.

After some research my suspicion is Ray is not an original script and looks very similar to a Red5 script I saw a couple of years ago.

There is a script called Jamroom available from http://jamroom.net which surpasses dolphin in it's simplicity and I run this script on 3 sites and never ever had any trouble implementing video, music or chat script they all come built in and work.
If I didn't believe that Dolphin could work I would walk away, but i truly believe that this script can be improved immensely and the first step i would take is the total removal of ray. It is far too complicated.
I have 3 years experience of modding scripts, websites and the internet in general but I struggle to get Ray installed correctly what chance does the average webgod have?
Somewhere between slim and none, thats how much.

I have written mods for various websites and never have i come across a script as ridiculous as Ray. If I could persuade Boonex to do anything it would be DITCH RAY, it isn't user friendly enough.

The Dolphin script is beautiful but with Ray its like a racehorse with 3 legs, it just wont run. Come on guys there are plenty of people willing to contribute.

Speaking of contributions Expertzzz.com expect me to pay monthly for the privelege of improving their script? WTF.

Makes me wonder how much they actually wrote themselves or was that contributed as well?

You have just reached the plateau that most of us have come too, that I now call the "Boonex realization"

In case you did not put the two together, Boonex is not stupid. A lot of companies do this exact thing. Just like Abledating, they put together a very nice looking package but they build it with many holes so that you will become dependent on them and pay for their services.

They can make the script open source and let others build upon it for them, just like you suggested, and then charge you for a removal license and then charge you for helping you fix their script. You are right, and they are brilliant.

Once you reach this realization it is very obvious.

I believe the term is 'golden handcuffs'. Where something works but there is always a glitch. So you have to go back and pay them some more, which fixes the bug but later reveals another and have to pay to get that fixed. etc..etc..
