Default Email Issues - Dolphin 5.6.0004

    Hi Guys

I've been troubling the Boonex Guys a lot recently so I thought I'd try here

I'm having major issues with Dolphin's email. The "Invite a Friend" functionality works fine when sending to an AOL account, as do the other email functionalities such as confirm address, new message/vkiss received etc.

However, the emails won't send at all to my work email address, or to Hotmail addresses, or most other ISPs. I originally thought this mgiht be caused by a lack of SPF header on the DNS, but that doesn't seem to make a difference.

My installation runs on a Linux server (it runs Qmail, does that make a difference?). Most bizarrely, the testmail.php doesn't deliver an email to either AOL or any other sort of address. But the Dolphine "Invite a Friend" functionality can deliver email from the server... weird?? The header.inc files are correctly configured as far as I can tell.

    Any thoughts would be appreciated!

    Cheers

    Nick

did you check to make sure that your server/ip hasn't been flagged as a spammer and now all of your mail messages are ending up in bulk/spam folders?

Hmmm... not as far as I'm aware, they are definitely not ending up in spam, as I've checked the folders of several accounts exhaustively! I suppose they might just be being deleted without notice though - how would I go about checking these spam lists?

    Hey,

I have a work around for this.

Your server may have a limit to how many emails you can send at one time.

The work around is to find out how many that is and send messages via the profile manager sending to 50 or so people at a time. That worked for me.

I then had to submit a waiver that would allow me to have no limit.

    I hope this helps.

    Hi there

I will have a look in the Admin settings, but as we only have about 6 test members at the moment it shouldn't be sending that many emails?

    Thanks

Hmmmm... Quick update - emails to the yahoo.co.uk domain appear to come through fine...

The recipient may have a spam blocker that thinks the sever your on has something to do with spam. You may want to check spam, junk and trash folders to see if the message was dumped.

I have experienced this with a completely unrelated system - but I know that specifically with AOL (and possibly the others?) that AOL will block anything they remotely think could be spam from getting to any of their users. This very well could be the case - not a problem with you or the system you are using, but on their side. Hope this helps.
