Thread: installing V4.0

I've been trying to install the v4.0 from a fresh install and man i am having so many issues.

Ok so first was the language file thingy with the ; missing .

then i dont know why but something is bad with some banners function
Error in /index.php: You have an error in your SQL syntax near '(Position AS CHAR) LIKE '%2%' ORDER BY RAND() LIMIT 1' at line 1

so i commented that part just to bypass the problem.

Ok so now i have a site looking good but i cant loggin in the admin area

it says Welcome back admin and then comes back to the login page...

WTF? AM i the only one having issues?

Username: admin
Pass: ae3

thats what i've been trying.

the password detection works. when i put a bad one it says wrong password bla bla .

and when i put the right one admin:ae3) it says welcome back admin logging you in. and then comes back to login page.

ok so i did some research.

for the issue with the banners its because V4.0 is not fully compatible with mysql 3.23.xx because it use the cast() function that is available on mysql 4.x only.

If you want my modified banners.inc tell me.

Still looking about the admin login...

Everyone - rest assured - either aeDating, or our community here on ModMySite, will go over this code (v4) and fix the bugs.

I really would not be too worried about these issues...

Would I replace my working, v3.x (or eariler) site with v4 today? No.... but I think you will be able to do so in the next few weeks without much trouble.

If anyone has fixes for any of the reported issues, please post them here for all to see and use.... sharing bug fixes like this is an important part of our community.

i have mysql 3.23.58, new aedating 4.0 work not.... because cast funtion... you have right djpate...
how can this make that work with 3.23.58?

any idea?

I'm sure we can come up with a fix for the older versions of mySQL - working together as a community.

But, really, you should at least upgrade to mySQL v4.0.24 - this is pretty much the minimum recommend version these days for most things.

I would not go to mySQL v5.0 now... I tried it a few times, and it gave me trouble. Not with v4.0 of aeDating, but with other things.

But 4.0.24 is a very safe bet (for now).

wonder when they are going to tell us.
as the profiles talbe is totally different and my current backup sql file donot seem to work.
any ideas or probably wait and see what ae come up with
