It seems the pen and pixel myspace clone is not really advantageous unless you want to open up your site to cross site scripting, embeded javascript code and just general hacking. Unless they added some extensive functions and checks that will strip specific tags like <javascript> and <script> and also scripts embeded in the div tags.
Myspace has been hacked several times by allowing certain tags in the page. They are hacked all the time.
The pen and pixels mods are actually very simple and easy to achieve. All you have to do is turn on html, modfiy the templates and css pages to use the same div names that myspace uses. Modify your template to have a similar layout as myspace and then create or use one of the existing memo fields as your <css/dhtml field>.
If you want to see my example you can go to www.westindieschat.com/comm/profile.php?ID=2 All I did was change my page layout and added what would be a few myspace code examples.
I actually didn't modify any off the css to match the myspace. I made my own. The blackbox that contains details of the user along with the red dashed line around it and the background image are examples of what the myspace code would add.
