    Default Language things

    Hello,

I'm trying to understand the script. I have a question about language and Dolphin 5.5.

    There is te file .../langs/lang-english.php
and there is in sql datdabse the table LacalizationKeys

Both contain the text strings. What happens when via admin panel we change a certain string. Let's say that via admin panel - language tool I change
"_promo_text_act_1' => 'Sign up today!'" to 'Hello'. Then what happens with the localizationkeys in sql?

What happens if afterwards we upgrade the program. The .../langs/lang-english get replaced by a new file with new strings meaning that you changes get lost?

Can somebody explain me how this works?

    Thanks in advance.

If you change a language string via admin panel, the localizationstring (not localizationkeys) table will be updated. Also the lang_enlish.php file will be updated.
So if you make changes to your lang-***.php file, don't use you admin panel to make changes !!!

    Kleetus,

Thanks for the answer. Let's say I want to change the word "Your contact information here". In next upgrades, this word will show up again in the laguage file. Maybe it will be replace by something else. Or maybe I created new strings and the next upgrade will not have them...

Which would be the easiest way of changing words and creating new strins, making sure that I will not have problem with new upgrades?

Just update your language file in the admin panel. If you install updates in the future, you will not update all the language strings, only those who ar new !

I would say for initial change it's easier to do a mass-change via SQL (see this section/thread mass change of LocalizationStrings) and then maintenance via the panel
