Thread: CRON jobs via external service

My provider does not support cronjobs so I'll have to use an external service like http://www.cronservice.co.uk which calls the script(s) from their server.

Anyone knows which scripts I have to add to the joblist of such a service? As far as I know some of them are in /periodic and this map has .htaccess, it seems a problem to me. Do I have to edit .php-scripts in /periodic? I use aeDating 4.x.

Hi,

You should have them call cmd.php and notifies.php (both in periodic).

You should ask them what IP they will be coming in on, and add that IP (or IPs)
to your .htaccess file as an allowed IP - so only their IP will be able to access the directory and call your scripts.

Thanks for the quick answer! The editing of .htaccess with the IP-address is the key for this.

My provider doesn't also allow cron jobs. But I don't understand how to do this. I have signed up at http://www.cronservice.co.uk
