To all who find the integrated ray chat in dolphin 5.2 horrendously slow and useless here are some installation instructions for integrating flashchat with boonex Dolphin 5.2
Flashchat can be purchased for anominal fee of $5 here tufat This install will do the following - Add FlashChat as the default chat client under the chat tab and remove ray - Allow flash chat to use your dolphin database to seamless let user’s login with dolphin credentials. It’s pretty straightforward and needs no modification to any scripts at all. Some of the statements and images are from the fc installer documentation. Installation Steps 1 Go to the Dolphin admin screen and click on Manage Modules 2 Click Browse and choose fc.aemod 3 Upload the entire "chat" folder [from the fc zip file] to your server, using binary FTP transfer. to /chat on your server. 4. then, to begin the installation, you should open this file with your web browser: http://{your domain}/chat/install.php 5. If you server is setup correctly you will see that it will pass all test on the first page. Click the option "Check here if you wish to integrate FlashChat..." and click next 6. On the Installer Integration setup choose aeDating 4 (or the latest aedating) and Click next 7. Next screen will show you the DB information which should be prefilled. IMPORTANT: The items in this step should be automatically entered for you. If they are not, then there is a problem, since it means that FlashChat isn't able to read your MySQL login information from the CMS configuration files. You should NOT change these values (except for the room list). ![]() 8. Next Page will give you and option to install bots on the server. You can choose as many as you want. It takes approx 5 minutes if you choose all bots to be installed. 9. Next comes the confirmation page. 10. Go to you site and delete /chat/install folder and /chat/install.php file. 11. In the Dolphin admin panel click on Global Settings >> Variables. Uncheck the box which says enable ray. That’s it you should be all set. You can login to dolphin and click on the Chat link to seamlessly login to the chat module. Follow Up and Outstanding questions. - How can I make the Flash Chat module appear below the site navigation so that the tabs appear below and it looks as if it is part of the current site and not a separate page. How much modification will this require? P.S. Thanks to Smoge for suggesting FlashChat. Last edited by Smoge; 10-10-2006 at 12:58 AM. |

I have FlashChat installed and also wonder if I can still use my site IM . I guess its based or is a part of RayChat which of course I don't use. I really wish I knew the answer because I really wanted the IM function. Im affraid to chech the IM box in admin to turn it on. Anyone have an idea on this ? This site rocks everyone! Lets all help each other and Smoge out. Have a great one ! bigboy |

Yes. You can use both (as I currently do). I have Ray chat active for Profile Messaging, and FlashChat for my room chatting features.
Rather then me type out the do's and don't about doing this, I will refer you to the posting where it is covered. There is a lot of good info in that Post! (My extended thanks to Playalla) FlashChat v 4.7.4 |

Hi,
Thanks for the tutorial. But is it possible to integrate flashchat to Dolphin 6.0 ? By using: http://www.mysite.com/admin/modules.php Will it be the same procedure? Thanks |
