Default Add PreDefined Values in Dolphin 7

    Hi Guys,

I am hoping someone would be able to direct me in the right direction. I have got suburb listing of 15,000 values and I need the user to select one value from the drop down.

I would like to create this as a predictive textbook so that user can type in the suburb name and it gives options available.

How can I do this in Dolphin 7 on the Join Page?

    Appreciate a response.

    Cheers

    Create predefined list:

Create the following field on join form:

    Test the result:

As you see - You can not submit a form without selecting this field - it would give the user an error message.

    Hope this helps.

    Hi There,

Thanks for the reply, I did do that but it does not show all the values becoz I have 15000 pre-defined values.

What i was expecting is someone to show me how to create a custom page in D7 where in I can have my own fields submitting to the profile table of D7.

That way I can control the HTML and rather than having a dropdown box for 15000 predefined values, I can have a "Predictive Search Text Box"

I would appreciate your response and any help!!

    Cheers

Well - with so many values, you need to split them into categories...

For example, our WorldCities modification shows 45K+ values (and can show 1.2 million, if desired - if the whole database is used, not just the "major cities" we usually use), but we have it split into Country / Region-State / City.

You may need to do the same, split your stuff into categories - so not so many show in the final selection list... use AJAX to populate the three fields, and grab the final selected one, for your insert.

If you need more than one, you will need to re-show the selection boxes after SUBMIT, or you could have more than one selection block on the page - to allow more than one selection on a single SUBMIT.
