Pick a page that is similar to the one you want to design, say you like the layout of the videos page. Download and open up the videos php file. Look at the top of that page for the css and html pages that it references.
Scan the code for the way it lays out the divs and such within it. Now you can rename that page to your new page, change the items within it to your liking, and rename the css files and html files it calls to match your new page.
For instance, say your page is named video.php, calls video.css and page4.html.
Rename your new file mynewpage.php, rename the css file to mynewpage.css, and rename the html file page411.html.
Upload these pages back to your server in their correct locations, open your new php page in your browser, look for those items you wish to change, move, or delete, and then play with your code on your local copies, reload them to your server, and see how the changes you make affect your new page. It's a long, sometimes difficult process, but you will learn how the code works, how the css files affect the page design, and you'll have a much better understanding of dolphin once you are through.
Good Luck!
If at first you don't succeed, go to a forum and ask like hell. (Using Joomla 1.5.18, JomSocial 1.6.12, Fully Customized)
