Thread: database import?

Hi Guys,

wishing to update my site to v6.1.6...

Is it possible to import the database from my current site which is still using GPL Date 0.39, and if so, is it just a matter of importing the database in the Dolphin admin panel?

GPLdate is more or less Dolphin 5.6.5 - so the same import requirements / procedure applies.

The database can not just be imported into 6.1.6, it needs to be upgraded - and in addition, the image files for profiles are stored in a different way in Dolphin 5.6.5 than 6.1.6, so that needs to be dealt with.

You could use the upgrade scripts from BoonEx to do the upgrade - but usually, it takes a bit more than just them to make it all work - needs some programming.

Or you could hire someone to do the upgrade who has done it before.

How many User profiles do you have on your Dolphin 5.6.5 (GPLdate) site?

It only has 174 members...but still quite a task to redo them one at a time - may be the safer option though.

Safety has not much to do with it.... the upgrade process is "safe".

However, if you have so few members (and how many are real and active?), it maybe cheaper to just do it manually.
