Thread: Dolphin 5.6.5 Questions.. (Novice)

Hey, i'm fairly new to all this, but decided to give it a shot as Dolphin looked to be just what i needed for my current project. I'm using it for a community site, rather then a dating site. But i've stumbled across a few issues while trying to make some alterations, normally i'd just go through every file one by one until i find what i'm looking for to edit, but that hasn't helped me in a few cases, and then there are a few things i don't know how to do, so hopefully somebody might be able to point me in the right direction.

I'm using Dolphin 5.6.5, and the default template.. here are my problems..

#1 - I can't seem to make changes to the menu at the top of the page, after doing some trawling through the threads here, i've discovered that i need to alter the following file..

templates/tmpl_dfl/scripts/menu_design.php

But every time i have, i seem to get no change? essentially what i want is to alter the 'chat' tab to take users to a page that isn't part of the Dolphin site. And if this can't be done, i'd like to remove the tab.

#2 - How can i remove the 'zip code search' and 'within 'x' miles' options from the quick search box to the left of the welcome page? country search would be sufficient for what i'm doing, and maybe city search if anyone could help me add these instead?

#3 - How would i alter the sign up process to remove zip/postal code? As it's not needed, i don't see why i should request the information from members.

#4 - There is no need for the IM feature on the site either, so i've turned it off in members profiles etc.. yet on each members profile there is still the 'IM (username) Now!!" link. How would i go about removing this? (ok, think i've sorted this one, but an explanation could stll be useful in case i'm wrong and the issue comes back)

hah! thanks for what - nobody responded.... last week was a busy week for everyone with Dolphin 6.0.0 and 6.0.1 being released....

Please try again with questions - maybe you will have better results that this has "passed" (like a can of baked beans).
