Thread: Forum for Clean

We are going to add a pre-integrated forum into CLEAN, since ORCA has been removed.

We looked at a couple forums - and would like to get your opinion on the one we are considering - myBB.

Our main requirements were:

1) OOP with classes
2) minimal "bloat"
3) security
4) RSS feeds

Sorry - sort of discounted phpBB2 and phpBB3 right off the get go - as phpBB is bloated (2x the code size of myBB) and security is a reoccurring problem with phpBB. Is myBB security better with security - appears that way.

We will wait a bit for your comments, and unless there is some better solution (application) or some other concern, we will roll this into CLEAN, including group forum support.

This looks good from a user perspective. I don't have a lot of experience with forums but I know I'd like to have a simple moderation control and the ability to edit the appearance to match my site's colors.

My site is 99% complete and will probably launch before you're able to finish the integration so I'll likely be asking you to install it for me.

That's a nice looking forum! Will the member's pics show up and will the post/thread count show up on the front page? Will it integrate well into Dolphin and look like it belongs there? It looks like it is easily customizable.

I was sick the last two days (and by fate , Mark was also), so CLEAN RELEASE 3 with the integrated myBB forum and chatmysite will not be available until Monday or so.

I am just "vertical" now.

Sorry to bring it to you guys, but MyBB sucks big time. It's a bloody nightmare front end tag soup. Absolutely emty forum returns 288 errors with W3C validator http://validator.w3.org/check?uri=ht...Inline&group=0

in comparison phpBB3 validates as Strict(sic!) XHTML with no errors at all.
