Thread: Anyone ever purchased a database before?

I was looking on ebay for databases and noticed that people are selling them. If I were to purchase a database what would I need to do to integrate it into my site?

It all depends on the format of the data.... and the format of the images they sell you.

We often do this kind of thing.

Before you buy - ask the seller for a sample of 10 profile entries, and the images associated with them - so you and whoever you have doing the import (us?) can see what the data looks like.

I saw a very suspect sample from some dude selling a supposed hacked 4mill profiles from dolphin sites. If they could hack that many from dolphin sites, how is the security? My guess is they made the things up themselves.

They were more trouble than they were worth.

No birthdates, no pix, and there was a field missing so the import was a real hassle.

If you happen to find a decent database, please post details for others so they can know a reputable seller.

Don't buy anything without samples and making sure you can actually use them.

I struggle to understand how purchasing fake profiles is either ethical or a great way to run this type of business.
