Thread: moving profiles table from 2.1 to 4.1

I'm running a heavily modified 2.1 site and finally biting the bullet and upgrading directly to 4.1. Question is, it looks like the passwords are encoded in 4.1 and I'm not sure they were in 2.1, or with the same algorithm. So, if I just manually move the passwords, will the users be able to log in transparent to them or not?

I am not a programmer, just a weekend warrior code tweaker. Certainly not a SQL expert....again, just a tweaker.

Any suggestions re the move and this issue would be greatly appreciated. If this is a huge undertaking, I would consider hiring someone on for help in the entire migration. About a thousand users...

Password fields in the database are not encoded in any standard release of aedating available prior to Dolphin v5.1 or aedating v4.1.4

So - not sure what is up with that - why you are seeing that, or think you are seeing that.

Sure you are not looking at phpBB or some other third party application you have installed on your site - those passwords are encoded.

Oh - I see this from another of your posts:

Maybe this is why you are seeing encryped passwords.
