Default Is there a open source or another like Ray?

I have been getting my sites working the way I want. And now I am interested in furthering my im/chat capabilities. Right now I have online chat, onsite im'ing, and messages.I noticed that Ray offers a widget to download to the clients computer, to have IM on your desktop.

Is there any other program or script that is compatible with dolphin, that I can intergrate in,with the features as ray pro?

Right now - Ray is decent idea for a Dolphin site - but there are some bugs and issues as you are aware - including portions of it not having available source code (flash).

There is no other alternative that will work "out of the box" with the same features as Ray - at least not yet.

So far I haven't been able to get Red5 working. I have the Red5 10 cam for Flashchat. Been trying, but some if it is beyond me.

My long term plans would be to have a chat built using Red5, as it's open source, and would rather see 1000 users on a free server than 1000 users on a Flashcom Server at about $4500/100 users.

I would like to see Ray working on my site anyway, even though I wasn't going to use it. I would probably buy the newest Raypro if I could. Haven't even tried Boonex yet, as I'm not willing to pay for something that I don't know if it will run on my site.

Has anyone gotten the Red5 server working, I have installed Java 1.5, have been totally confused by installing Ant 1.7, and can't get past that. If anyone has ideas, I'm open to them!

Yes - we have RED5 (latest subversion checkout) running

We can also do installs of RED5 on peoples servers, if needed - assuming you are using a supported Linux distribution.

There are some things you need to do if you try to do your install yourself. I found that the most important thing is that your java install is correct - with the default java virtual machine being set to the required java binaries. Your server may have multiple installs of Java - as most distribs come with one already installed (if you do anything but a minimal opsys load).

If you would like us to install RED5 for you - send me a PM. I can also try to answer some questions about it here if you want to do it yourself - but in general, it is a bit complex for forum posts.

We just did a Red5 install for Knuty on his server - it took about 3 hours, with a re-install of Java and configure, ant, and red5 setup to start at boot.

Took a bit longer for Knuty since we had to fix a previous failed install done by someone else.

I think usually it would be about 2 hours to install Red5.

I should mention - our Red5 installs run Red5 as the "red5" user, not root - for increased security - and include a start-up script. Both of these are enhancements not documented on the Red5 support site.
