Thread: IM - ae9: need in left nav. Change window / table size

I am using template ae9 - modified. I need to get the IM window in the header so it appears in the left nav but Im struggling. It forces the nav colum to be 560px wide. Ive tried many things.

Any suggestions? Just want it small and in left nav like act or ae4 template

Solved my own problem so Ill post here for others.
Get IM window on left nav column.

AEDating 4.1.004
Template ae9

1) Open tmpl_ae9_header.html and modify the table that contains the shoutbox to table width="170"
2) Add a new row in the table : <tr><td><div align="center">__IM__</div></td></tr>
3) save file
4) Open inc/design_ae9.inc.php and look around line 175 for the Instant messenger settings. Change $im_width to 170 and $im_height to 200.
5) FTP into server.
6) make back ups of your current tmpl_ae9_header.html and inc/design_ae9.inc.php
7) Upload new files and test
If all looks good you will want to remove the IM call on the following templates: tmpl_ae9_page_55.html tmpl_ae9_page.html tmpl_ae9_page_4.html tmpl_ae9_page_6.html tmpl_ae9_page_7.html tmpl_ae9_page_9.html tmpl_ae9_page_10.html tmpl_ae9_page_19.html tmpl_ae9_page_32.html tmpl_ae9_page_33.html tmpl_ae9_page_45.html . If you dont you will end up with two IM boxes. One on the body of the page and one in the left nav.
