Thread: does the A/C chat feature in dolphin

ok sorry if this sounds like stupid newb question.
does using the A/V (webcam in particular) chat feature that available in dolphin require that you have a server?

we currently use free web 2.0 properties for our chat. but i would love to make it internal to our site.

does using the web cam feature require that you run it on a dedicated server? or even a VPN where u have root access?
can this be done with, say "outsourced" bandwidth using another thing like userplane (but i'm not a big fan of userplanes to be honest).
from looking at past CMS's, it seems that in order to have a web cam chat, it requires that you run something like avchat dot net. which i believe runs on red5, which requires a server.

any ideas suggestions?

sorry for this newb question. i just read the rest of this forum and learning a lot.

so, its what i expected: either a server using red5 or using something like CDN service?
