Default Password length in confirmation email

Hello to all, boy, am I glad I found this site. Just finished Nulling 5.2, thanks to Chainsmoker. Here's a little glitch I found. If I enter a password of more than 8 characters during sign up, the confirmation email only displays the first 8 characters of the password. Has anyone else noticed that.

I have almost completed stripping out all the dating info from the site, as I'm making this a pure "Community" site, and as highschool kids will be using the site, I just know that I will be getting emails stating that "my pasword won't work", as they will be tying in the password sent in the confirm email. (I know, that they should know the password that they entered in the first place, but some kids will think that "this is the password that was sent back to me, so this must be my new password). just trying to avoid a lot of unnecessary emails.

The size of the password field is only 8 characters - if you want it larger - increase the size in the DB (Profiles/ProfilesDesc)

This is annoying - since it truncates the password - and if you run 3rd party applications off the aedating/dolphin database - this will confuse users, as in the 3rd party application, "thisismypassword" is different from "thisismy"

Default Password length in confirmation email

Thanks Smoge, I thought it was something like that, I think I will extend the password length, thanks for letting know where to look. I've been a systems programmer/designer/analyst for 18 years, and have just got into some web development as of late (I know, a bit too late). As I've been in a management position for the last 7 years, I haven't been doing much programming lately. It's nice to get back into the trenches.

I've noticed, since downloading the Dolphin script and working on it, that a lot of people don't want the dating info. I would be glad to share my modified script with other users who just want a "community" site, once I have it completed. My next thing to do with the script, is to get rid of the virtual kisses. Do you know of an easy way of getting rid of this feature?

I know this might not be the right place to ask this question, as this is not really a bug, please feel free to move this post.

Again, thanks for a great site.

To remove the kiss - you will need to comment out code in various places.... if you have a programming editor that searches multiple files/directories - come up with a good search term - search all files - and make your adjustments.
