Thread: Cannot call the installation routine

I've just done a fresh upload of the 5.3 dolphin. I've set all the file permissions and created the database.

However, when I call the /install/index.php file...nuthing happens...just a blank page .........


Any idea's as to what is happening here?

With version 5.0 I was able to get the installation page to come up, complete the install but then when I tried to access either the admin page or the site index..it would tell it it couldn't find the header.inc.php file

I'm very interested in trying this out but so far...3 hours later...I still have absolutely nuthing that works........

BTW..I'm tryin gto install this without having my domain name pointed....so I'm using http://IP-Number/install/index.php ... could this be causing my problems....does the install require a fully resolved domain name?

Im having the same issue. I am installing a clean 5.3 to be able to play with customizing templates and I never make it past the blank page when the install folder is clled. Ive triple checked my 777, 755 and 666 CHMOD's and still nothing. Anyone else got any ideas? Ive gone thru some other posts but still drawing a blank

Did you enable error_reporting - so you can see what error (or at least, have a chance to) what is happening?

you must download newer version (Thanks giving edition) and change your files with new files. boonex is fixed some exploids,bugs and script errors in this version.

Yes - but we have fixed more exploits, fixed more bugs, and added more features in GPLdate - so also consider that as an option.

Massive issues with GPLDate...

I have installed 5.5 and it worked...I have installed an earlier version of dolphin as well and it worked. I want to get GPLDate up and running but after transferring all the files to the website, I can't get the install to work. I just get a blank screen and nothing else. I have gone through and emptied the database, uploaded at least three times, checked the chmod on the files, etc, etc. If I can run all versions of Dolphin, why can't I run GPLDate. I would love the features of GPLDate but it's really driving me crazy.

Any suggestions would help. Also, orca needs some crazy thing on the server to run so I need another forum...any suggestions on how to set this up??

And how exactly did you do this transfer? File by file using FTP? If so, this is bad. You should upload a zip or a tar - and decompress it on your server.

The "crazy thing" is a PHP extension called XSLT. Your hosting company or yourself if you run a VPS or dedicated server will have to compile it in.
