Default Users Cannot Change Their Account Settings! Please Help!

Under My Account, My Settings where you enter your info, my users are getting locked out. If they attempt to change their info it will not save the data and puts up an error block with: No Message!

A peek at the source for that page reveals that there is a error block with no content. <div class="err"><div></div></div></center><br />

I did add alot of new things in the profile fields manager when I created the site and it looks like something has gone horribly wrong.

Using Dolphin Clean 6.0.3. Sever log shows no errors, in Cpanel MySQL Account Maintenance shows no database errors.

Just a guess off the top of my head - you have some requirement in ProfilesDesc for a field - a check or something - but no error message to show if the check fails - so the red box has nothing to display.

There is no error message in the Password,Password1 Field, which is the "Change Password" field. I typed one in and it came up. I don't think that field should need an error message though.

However this brings about the next problem. This field is marked as mandatory and I can't seem to un-mark it.

Sorry - when you want to tweak your site - the admin panel profile editor is sub-standard. We often disable these tools on clients sites - as they tend to muck things up.

You need to use phpmyadmin for any kind of control.

Thank you very much for the advice. I basically know how to use PHPMyAdmin. I'll back up my database and take a crack at it. Anything particular I should look for?

Do a search on ModMySite for "show_on_page"

It will pop up some threads with some info on using phpMyAdmin to edit profile fields.

Looks like this is getting to be a pretty well known bug. There's a thread on it here:

I'm going to attempt the suggested fix and then I'll be sure to report this one to Boonex.

This is cascading into more problems. Now users cannot enter a "nickname" and my join page is not displaying correctly. This is the 100th + bug I've seen in this script. It's hard not to get discouraged.

I'm not good enough with SQL to battle this. I think it will be easier for me to just do a re-install since my site is not live.

Figured out an easier fix. I have a test install of dolphin that has a good database so I used PHPMyAdmin to copy the "Profiles" table and the ProfilesDesc" table and then overwrite the buggy ones in my main install. It worked.

Of course this would be a bad idea on a live site, but for this instance it does the job.

In the process of all this I've documented 5 bugs. I listed them in the bugs category here:

Is it a bug - what you fixed with above - or a result of modifications you made to these tables, either directly in phpMyAdmin, or using the "builders"?
