Thread: User Profiles do not update in 5.6.2 !

this Issue also got posted in the Expertzzz Forum, lots of others have the same Problem inlcuding myself, but as the Expertzzz from Boonex do not reply to this Topic for what Reason ever, i thought i give it a try here as its really urgent.

The Problem is as follows ...when a user updates his Profile in 5.6.2, he gets displayed that the Changes are taken and all iss okay, also the Values appear to be changed...but as soon the User leaves his Profile-Page to another Page and returns back to his Profile, he will see that the Changes are vanished and the old Values are back there.

It appears like the Users Changing Informations get send to the Database, but somehow not executed ...*scratching Forehead.

Something must be wrong with the User sided Caching, because Profile Changes via Siteadmin-Panel work and remain.

Now one of the Users in Expertzzz-Forum did a type of "Quickfix" for this...that makes the Users Profile Changes valid for a while, but its in so far useless because as soon an Administrator does one single Change to a User-Profile, the old Problem will occur again.

Really weird.

Maybe somebody here at modmysite has any Idea how to fix this ?

PS: Useless to say, Cache Folder is of course 777 and the Files inside become automatically chmodded to 644.

Odd, i'm running 5.6.0002 and i dont have this problem. I also upgraded which might be the cause of it.

Hmz ...i did a fresh Install ...do you think there could be a difference between upgrading from older versions and doing a fresh install ? ....wierd, but at least possible.

When you say changes - do you mean all - or particular ones?

Why I am asking is.... if your ProfilesDesc and / or Profiles enums are incorrect (extra spaces, or blank enums) or don't match - you will have this problem.

Is this happening with a field you added to your profiles or one that is standard in Dolphin?

Either way - check your values in your enums (using phpmyadmin) and make sure you dont have any ' ' and that your enums between ProfilesDesc and Profiles match exactly.

i cant say exactly at which Point this happend, or if the Problem was there from the Start already.

What i did anyways is that i added 3 additional Fields in the Profile-Fields Section, i checked on any of them applying to all forms, and also there are no whitespaces or invalid characters in the fields names.

Iam really clueless ...

I will now try to reproduce this Error by doing another Fresh Install, and by checking if the Users Profile Change still works after any Modification i do to the common Installation.

Seems to be the only way to figure out whats causing all this.

I keep you up to date and start installing now, hang on.

Kay, the actual Status is as follows ...i did a fresh Install, set as always Profile Auto-Activation on and aswell checked the "Do not change Status at Profile-Edit or Photoupload"-Changes ...then i registered a User via Client-Frontend and filled in various Profile Information ...got taken and changed.

Simultanously in the FTPs Cache-Folder of Dolphin was nothing at this time.

Now i logged out with the User and logged back in.

Checked the Cache Folder again ...now theres a File named User1.php and it has chmod 644.

Now as theres a File in the Cache Folder, i tried again to change the Userprofile via the normal Userlogin to see if the Changes still apply ...and now *Dang ! ...the Changes did not apply anymore !

To say it in Short...as soon theres a Userfile created in the Cache-Folder, changes to the Profile do not take Effect anymore.

The Question is now...why ?

Whats going wrong there ?

Cache Folder has 777 and the Files get placed there inside with 644.

For some Reason the User Profile Edit does not update the Userfile in the Cache-Folder ^^

I did another Test to make sure of that ...i simply deleted the User1.php File in the Cache Folder via FTP ...and wonder, the Profile can be updated again...BUT...as soon you logout, the File gets written in the Cache again and no update possible anymore :/

As ive said, many have exactly this Problem with 5.6.2 ...till now no Solution avail.

I dont think that its a Problem with my Server ...but if it is, all whats needed can be changed, i have a vServer with Shell-Access.

lodlock are you Aok with yours .. if so maybe the way to go is install a different version and then upgrade ...

Its really amazing...People are asking for help since nearly 2 Weeks in the Boonex "Expertzzz" Forum and the "Expertzzz" dont even reply to this *lol.

Do we have to pay for a Bugfix in their own Script or why they dont answer ?

Well, i would of course pay for Addons or extreme Modifications to the System, but surely not for Bugs in their basic Script-Structure

However ..i assume the Problem must be somewhere in the File profile_edit.php ...something inside there is not telling the Cache-Files to update/rewrite usersided.

Useless to say, Users will not be able to set their Website live until this Problem is fixed.

And as most of us are not skilled PHP-Coder`s, it seems we will have to wait till someone with Coding-Knowledge lets hisself down to check this and find the grand Solution.

Mine is definitely working and as I stated previously I had upgraded.

Maybe the File profile_edit.php in the Upgrade-Package is different to the one in the 5.6.2 full Release ? *Hmz.

Or (as some dont have the Problem) can it have to do with the PHP Version ? .ex some using PHP 5, there it works, some PHP 4, there it doesnt ?

Dunno, hopefully someone gets behind that.
