Thread: Member Nickname changes - Members ability to change their Nickname

Well he's another boonexcrement MAJOR F**Kup.


One that I should have caught but...who would of thought to even look for something like this???

In the OTB install members are allowed to change their Nicknames.
LOL.....
What's up with that? Do these baboons know anything....lol....
If you have other scripts integrated into your "dating" site, or even if you do not, this totally hoses everything for that members access to the site and for that matter the ability of other members to find their profile.
Damn.....

I just had a member change their nickname and they could not access the forum, photo gallery, coppermine, blog etc etc etc....

Why someone would want to change their nickname is irrelevant. The fact that they can and how it screws with all the integrated scripts does matter.

This is why I cannot see why so many of you jump to the next next "version" at the drop of a hat.
You obviously are not "fixing" the code in your sites. Hell... I have spent more that a year rewriting the code to get it to work and everyday, like today, I find more bullshit to fix...
Anyway rant over...

The fix is easy... This crap just never comes up until it happens to you or someone on your site.

In your ProfilesDesc table change the Nickname options so that only admins "adm" can change the Nickname...

My aunt changed her name 4 times when she got married lol.

any check done if the user key in admin for nickname during registering?
perhaps nickname like administrator..cpanel..admin..should be ban or something..
