Thread: confirmation email / invite a friend

I have a problem with users registration. 99% of the users uses hotmail and msn accounts, but the email with the confirmation link don't get send to hotmail or msn accounts, all other email accounts are ok. Just people don't recieve the registration code. Also if i go to the admin panel and check the unconfirmed profiles and then press confirm email nothing gets send to hotmail or msn...the same for ending messages from the admin panel....all normal email adresses are oke, just not hotmail and msn. Same problem for invite a friend and email profile to a friend.

Please anyone have simmilar problem? Or a solution?

Hi there. I'm having the same problem, except it's not sending a confirmation code to ANY of the email addresses provided. There is no error message that appears and I tried running the mailtest.php script which was true. A bit confused and frustrated now.

One thing you might want to consider is that it's being sent, but going to their junk mailbox. I have problems with this. I have actually modified the sign up form to tell people to check their junk mail box for the confirmation email if they do not receive it within a reasonable (10 minutes) amount of time.

Anything that says dating etc. will go there, as most people don't really care about this. I am considering changing the subjects, and email address that these come from, but not sure that will solve it.

Try that, see if it works.

I had checked my junk folder but it wasn't going in there. I switched to a Linux server and now the emails are going through including hotmail. Everything works fine now! I guess the problem was getting it all to work smoothly with a windows server.

On Windows servers, with Windows MTA (mail transport agents) - the headers in the various mail sending functions need to be changed for mail to work correctly with many Windows based MTAs.

When you changed to Linux, this problem was solved.

But to those who want to run aeDating on a Windows box in the future - if you have mail problems - check your headers.

Hi, I have the same prob but i dont run on a windows server. I'm testing my site at the momment so its not much of a problem. I dont know whats wrong mail go's to Yahoo but not MSN or Hotmail.

I have run the emailtest.php and its come back true.

Any help would be great

here is the error i get back in my admin mail if it hepls anyone to sort the prob i have out,( i changed the email addy for security)

The mail server sending mail to HotMail, to be successful, usually needs two things....

1) SPF record
2) Reverse DNS

You can use http://www.dnsreport.com to check these values for your server.

I have contacted my host to make changes for me
I ran a DNS check and showed lots of little issues that needed sorting.

I just cant see why no mail go's to members that register with hotmail addresses, I hape placed the SPF on my dns and have reverse Dns.

But nothing going to hotmail, I'm very new to GPLdate and could do with a hand here.
