Thread: Add categories to profile search tags...

Would it be possible to break down the profiles tags into additional categories and then list the tags created under those categories?

Basically the search tags should have catgories ie health products which the new user defines by adding tags.

Is this something done with predefined lists?

How do you set up the search - tags function once these categories are set up?

Just point me in the right direction - I'm going around in circle

I think we are complicating this..

My question was - you make all the list elements, and they choose from the list?

Meaning:

If the pre-defined list has apples and oranges... and the user wants "pears", USERS can not add pears - themselves, to the list.

You would need to add "pears" as ADMIN to the list.

The list is limited to what you, ADMIN, puts in it.

Or:

Are you saying, they, the users, could add "pears" to the list, themselves, even if it was on the list of pre-defined items you added as ADMIN.

The list is not limited to what you, the ADMIN, puts in it - users can add things to the list.

This is my question.

No the requirement is for users to be able to add free form tags under several list categories.

"Hobbies"
add your own tags

"Investment Information"
add your own tags

Well - if you want users to be able to ADD their own things to the list - there was a modification we used on another guys site - it came from AntonV or someone.... I actually forget, it was a year ago....

But it allowed users to add to listboxes, then we added in an admin panel moderation function, so the added values could be vexed before made live.

You may want to try to hunt down the mod on Expertz - but it was for v6.x before, not sure if he has it for v7.x (no matter, you can just change it for 7) as a starting point... it was around $75 or something....
