    Question vBulletin - phpBB

Hi, can someone tell me what is better to use with Dolphin 5.6.0002? vBulletin or phpBB?

I see phpBB is very popular among users here, but this site is powered by vBulletin and I think I like it a lot. Are there important differences (advantages, disadvantages) between this two forum scripts (taking on account integration with Dolphin 5.6.0002)???

By the way, I think that some instruction on how to ingrate vBulletin with Dolphin 5.6.0002 would be very very good, please.

Help with these questions please. Thanks in advance.

PD: I'm talking about the latest versions of these two forum scripts, if you are not and it is relevant please mention versions.

    Elusuario,

I have defended phpBB here before, because it is free. It has security issues, which are known.

vBulletin is probably the Cadillac of Bulletin Boards, it's stable, it has support. It also is an expense, as it's not free.

It will depend on what you want though really. I stuck with Orca on my 5.6.0002 install, it pretty much worked right off, after I fixed some issues that I created on install. I was able to fairly easily pull my headers and footers from my main site into it, and drop my background picture into the template, so it is 'integrated' into my site fairly well.

I don't know how this will stand up to a lot of users. The one thing I see about the software it's also GPL licensed, so it can be modified. Something that hasn't been discussed here much.

Modmysite also sells an integrated BB option you should check out. You KNOW the support there will be excellent.

Does Orca consumes too many server resources (for example: increased bandwidth consume in comparison with functional popular forum scripts)???

I ask this because, when I open the forum from the member menu link it takes a lot to load and I have read that this is very common with other users.

I think I also get an error at my server log when I run Orca. What specific issues did you fix?? how??

    Thanks for answering. Take care.
