Don't use it, but I hear good things about it. The big apps like Photopost and Subdreamer have member management support for it.

It's an excellent forum application. I used it when my site was a Joomla! site

I am trying out the simple machines forum now - for a new domain that will be active in several days (hint: free dating site hosting).

It looks nice - but it does lack a lot of features I become dependent that are available in vBulletin.

However, I will try it on this new domain, and see what happens with it.

i don't know the pros and cons but upon reading and using simple machines myself people always say its more secure.

I was reading some of the posts in the Boonex forum, seems they have a mod for the SMF...Obviously, its not free... Just FYI...
Maybe theyll include it in the modules on the next release

A basic module for SMF for aedating / Dolphin / GPLdate would not be hard to make - most of it could be based off the existing phpBB.aemodule.

I would like to say about SMF - that after using it for a while - it is nice - but I think, as forums go - vBulletin is much better.

I just posted a couple of messages about 833-Forum - so I will not go into that too much again - but in general - it just looks crappy (in my opinion) for the forum to be a 3rd party application like phpBB or vBulletin or SMF - and at least 833-Forum is 100% integrated. But it's not free.
